Youth Travel Card (Taiwan)

The Youth Travel Card came about as a means to forge a congenial travel environment, and was introduced by the National Youth Commission (NYC) of Administration Yuan. Since 2006 the National Youth Commission (NYC) of Administration Yuan has released 2 versions of the card for those 15-30 years old: blue one with an ocean pattern for Taiwanese, red with an aboriginal tribe pattern is for international visitors.

So when you travel to Taiwan and happen to be between the ages of 15 to 30 years old, you can (and should) apply for the Youth Travel Card. With the Youth Travel Card, you get to enjoy discounts and special gifts from selected attractions, stores and restaurants. It gives you access to over 800 incentive discounts on travel hotspot admissions, food & product purchases, transportation, and lodging. According to the website, the card has a validity until 31 December 2016.

Applying for and collecting the card is not limited to Taoyuan Airport, please see the website for more locations. Since it is free, it is something that is worth getting when you are traveling to Taiwan.

All you have to do is fill out the form and produce your passport at the airport when you after collecting your luggage. With the card you can get discounts on attractions like Taipei 101 and the Taipei Zoo, to name a few.
