Basilico - Christmas Lunch Buffet

Basilico

It was a Christmas lunch treat and so lunch was at Basilico, an Italian restaurant offering both a la carte and buffet options, and is located within Regent Singapore (Hotel)

The hotel was decked out in Christmas decorations and on the way in and up to Basilico, from the doormen to the restaurant staff, they were all very smiley and welcoming.

Reindeer and Christmas decorations!

When we finally arrived, we were greeted, welcomed and promptly seated. The seating within Basilico is cosy, with warm lighting and big comfy armchairs at the dark wood table.

Open kitchen concept - where you can see your food (some of it) cooked and prepared right in front of you!

Soon we headed out to the food buffet... and there was alot of food (well, it was a buffet after all)! From pastas to ravioli, cheese platter to (the usual) bread and pastries, meats and cold salads, all the way to desserts (more photos of the desserts and how pretty they look, can be viewed here)!

This was supposed to be the smoked salmon, squid salad and some other salads, but unfortunately that's the best the iphone could do under circumstances. So you'll have to use your imagination! :p heh
Basilico
Cheese, nuts, biscuits and smoked salmon with a piece of squid from the salad. While the (one piece) squid had a very firm texture to it with a tinge of lemon was interesting, the smoked salmon on its own was a tad too salty and had to be paired with either the bread or biscuits.
Basilico
Pizza (highly recommended) with its thin soft yet subtly crispy crust, squid ink pasta with mini calms, lasagna, ravioli and vegetables.
Basilico
Pumpkin, beef, more ravioli and pasta, not to mention smoked salmon, carrots etc...

And how could we miss out the dessert? Ever since my first encounter with Creme Brulee, it has been my fixation if I see it. Anyways, Basilico's Creme Brulee was small (in a spoon) but still just as nice! In fact, I think the sugar crust was a little thicker, but it blended well with the soft filling beneath. Coupled with vanilla ice-cream and some other sweet tea, it was a sweet finish to a wonderful lunch.
