Novotel Platinum Pratunam Hotel: Superior Room

Novotel Platinum Pratunam Hotel Overview > Novotel Platinum Pratunam Hotel: Superior Room

We booked 2 superior rooms, one with twin beds and the other with a king size bed, both rooms were one the same floor and were interconnecting as requested. Unlike the last hotel I stayed at the last time, Centara Watergate Pavillion Hotel Bangkok, the flooring was carpeted. I think having wooden flooring or tiles would have been better as it minimizes the dustiness, but the room was clean and spacious enough. There was a little glitch with the in-room complimentary wifi, but that was resolved with a call to the reception to get a technician down. It took about 15 minutes for the issue to be resolved (turned out that the router had to be restarted).

The view of the beds/room from the bathroom, more on that later...

The bed and pillows were very comfortable. There was even a pillow menu, but we did not utilize that.

Other than the beds (and sofa) , the rooms were essentially the same.
Note: Extra bed is possible (you just have to ask).

Complimentary wifi speed was good. The only bothersome thing about it was having to log in every time we left the room

The tv, desk and mini bar (where the complimentary bottles of water were replenished daily)

There were adequate TV channels to entertain ourselves.

All the basic amenities (e.g. slippers, soap, shampoo etc…) were available. There were also 2 bottles of complimentary water which were replenished daily (and placed in the mini fridge). However, if you require toothbrush and toothpaste, you have call housekeeping.

I found the provided bedroom slippers flimsy and of poor quality, considering that this is an Accor Hotel I was expecting something more durable

The bathroom was modern and complete with a rain shower there was no bath tub, but it was good enough. The water pressure was good and the toilet was clean. The only disappointment was complimentary toiletries: there was not cotton pads, cotton buds, razors etc… For a 4 star hotel, I was at least expecting those, but it seems like there were going with a really minimalist theme.

The bare minimum toiletries: bar soap, body wash, shower cap, sanitary bags and shampoo/conditioner
What was interesting about the bathroom was that there was a glass partition from the bath area looking out to the room. A little odd, but have no worries as there is actually a button for shades that will shield your privacy. So friends, family and couples alike all can stay in such a room. No idea why they have such a concept and no clear instructions/indication that there are actually shades to shield your privacy when you take a bath. If you are not a couple and happen to be staying with a friend and never knew about the button, imagine how awkward the stay would be!

but have no fear, the shades are here to save the day!

One other thing that I didn't like (other than the flimsy bedroom slippers), was the dim lighting (at night) in the room. But overall, the room was clean and the stay pleasant. We stayed on the 19th floor so there was minimum noise from the noisy street busy. Our room overlooked the night market and a shopping mall (can’t remember the name of it). The view wasn’t too bad, especially at night with all the pretty city lights.

  1. Good thing there are shades to shield privacy from the bathroom. It would be really awkward if people who are not close to encounter shall a room and not realize that there was a button that could save all their blushing! lol
