After the
wonderful dinner the night before, we headed to
ABU Restaurant for breakfast. We had breakfast here for two mornings. The early morning river view and serene ambience made a great start to the mornings; having a cup of coffee or tea overlooking the sparkling waters make for a good (and relaxing) start to the morning.

The menu for breakfast (over the duration of our stay) stayed the same, but there were two options that we could choose from:
- Western: French toast with a choice of wither scrambled eggs or omelet, served with sautéed mushrooms as a side, and your choice of drink (coffee, tea or freshly squeezed soya bean with no sugar added)
- Eastern: consisting of pork porridge with porridge condiments along with a pork bun and steam egg, and (of course) your choice of drink (coffee, tea or freshly squeezed soya bean with no sugar added)
In addition to the breakfast sets, there is a complimentary mini buffet bar consisting of fruits, salads and cereals.

The salad, cereal, cold cuts (e.g. smoked salmon) and sauces section |
A simple starter - consisting of tomatoes, sweet potatoes, yam and pumpkin - is also served before the arrival of the breakfast sets.

Just an artistic shot (lol) |
As the resort would ask in advance what time you would like (be coming down for) to have breakfast, they would be able to be better equipped to provide more personalized service. Of the days that we were there, the service rendered by the staff was good: they were polite, unobtrusive very attentive (to what was needed to be refilled) and initiative (e.g. suggesting what fruit juice would be good etc…). The best part would be that the breakfast area (a.k.a. the restaurant) was not overcrowded and noisy with incessant chatter (as with most breakfast buffets), and there was no rush to quickly finish the meal so that there would be space for the next guest. Those mornings were the rare (but much appreciated) slow (and relaxed) start to the day (taking the time to appreciate nature, food) as compared to the usual daily rush (fast paced-ness) of life.
Day 1 Breakfast
Delectable scrambled eggs, with soft fluffy french toast and a side of mushrooms. The french toast was light and subtle in flavor and very palatable, and the scrambled eggs were done nicely (place atop a muffin). The mushrooms, on the other hand, were a little too strong in flavor for my liking, but if you like the strong earthly mushroom flavor than it will definitely be your favorite! |
Moist omelet with pieces of mushroom to give it that extra punch, along with french toast and mushrooms as sides. |
Chilled red tea and latte to start off the day |
And a warm cup of freshly squeezed unsweetened soya bean drink. |
Day 2 Breakfast
Some vegetables and fruits to start the day. The fruits were fresh and the bamboo shoots and asparagus were nice touches. |
Flavorful pork porridge, with steamed egg and pork bun served together with.... |
The porridge condiments of spicy bamboo shoots, pickles and mock abalone. |
Freshly made chilled soya bean milk! |
Freshly made kiwi juice! |
Warm red tea to end off the meal |
