It was a trip that was born somewhat of spontaneity during a simple conversation with PrincessyL about the puppy's spa trip on fine weekend. From that simple conversation coupled together with a 1-for-1 credit card promotion that Tiger Airways was having, this trip to Bangkok was born. Thanks to PrincessyL, I was inspired to visit Bangkok for 4 days 3 nights. :)
Breakdown (per person):
Breakdown (per person):
- Flight tickets: S$162
- Travel Insurance: S$18
- Accommodation for 3 nights: S$120
- TOTAL: S$300
Flight Tickets - Tiger Airways
Without promotions, Jetstar seems to be offering the lowest for most places and without any promotion taking Jetstar to Bangkok would have cost about S$230++. Likewise, without promotions Tiger Airways would have cost around the range of S$250++ for the same dates, depending on the options (luggage weight, food, insurance selected).
However, due to Tiger Airways having a 1-for-1 credit card promotion, going to Bangkok was an affordable S$162 per person (inclusive of checked-in luggage). If it weren’t for the promotion, I would have never have thought of taking Tiger Airways. Insurance was an option but it wasn't exactly the cheapest, so we opted for NTUC Travel Insurance, which also had a 25% discount promotion going on at around the same time. Insurance cost us S$18 each.
Accommodation- Centara Watergate Pavillion Hotel Bangkok
Initially, PrincessyLee suggested Glow Pratunam Hotel for its proximity to the Pratunam shopping areas (Pratunam Market) and mall (Platinum Fashion Mall!) for about S$280 for 3 nights (which works out to S$140 per person for 3 nights and about S$47 per person per night. However, after some research, we decided on Centara Watergate Pavillion Hotel Bangkok, which is just within the area as well. The rates for Centara Watergate Pavillion Hotel Bangkok online ranged from about S$298 (Expedia) to S$247 (Agoda) for 3 nights. Further searching, led to HotelClub which offered S$240 for 3 nights.

However, I manged to get it at S$224.87 inclusive of breakfast and WIFI, thanks to my Visa card! So it works out to about S$75 per person for 3 nights and about S$25 per person per night. I've used this site for my stay at Hotel Quote (Taiwan), and my staycations at Capella and Möevenpick Heritage Hotel Sentosa previously. And so far the experience has been pleasant enough. So if you have a Visa credit card, this is one website you should check out for hotels you are planning to stay at during your trip (you might get to save a little more!).

So with flight (and travel insurance settled) and hotel booked (and settled), there's only the waiting and the actual traveling to do. It's going to be a fun and relaxing trip!
