Micheon Cave

Micheon Cave |
The first stop was
Micheon Cave, a cave that is a designated
Natural Monument and one of the representative lava tubes of
Jeju. Within this cave lie beautifully landscaped and manicured gardens which include a pond (Chumsung Dae).

That's Victor and the Russian couple ahead of us walking down the steps into the cave |
Upon entering the cave, we had to adjust our eyes to the dim lighting before we ventured further into the cave but it was a fascinating walk as the cave showcased statues, pillars and other displays etc...

Further into the cave. As we walked further in, the ceiling of the cave became lower so we gave up midway (bending can be a tiring job!) |
The air within the cave was clear, cool and crisp with occasional water dripping from the ceiling above (since caves are damp that way) so you might want to take note and wear a cap or hoodie.

Folk Village
After we were done with the
Micheon Cave, it was off to visit the
Folk Village with a little yummy ice-cream of a snack on the way. The village was a replica of what would have been in the past with a millstone and buildings with commentary. There were even ‘live’ black pigs which were as long as my golden retriever! *Black pork is apparently a famous product of
Jeju.

Really huge black pigs! |
When we were done exploring the village, it was time for the
Jejueco tour to come to an end. On the way out, there were fascinating life-sized sculptures which make good for taking photos with. All in all
Ilchul Land was a good serene place to visit – a park combined with natural attractions and beautiful gardens, not to mention animals to view and signage reminiscent of the
Running Man (variety show) filming.
