Brotzeit German Bier Bar and Restaurant (Star Vista)

Brotzeit German Bier Bar and Restaurant offers German food in a German (enough) ambiance and has several branches peppered throughout Singapore (Raffles City, 313 @ Somerset, Vivocity and The Star Vista). The color scheme used for the outlet at The Star Vista is warm and inviting, even the waitresses manning the entrance had mega-watt smiles (that day).

We were effectively ushered into the restaurant (it was not that crowded) and were shown the menu. Waiting time for the food was moderate, with the drinks than the salad, followed by the rest of the items we ordered.

Shared amongst 3 people, the food not only tasted good but was also satisfying (so much so that Mmy ordered another pizza!). German food consists of more than pork knuckles, beer and sausages.

Backhendl Salat @ S$19.50 (Large)

Essentially (chicken) salad which consists of breaded chicken and an assortment of vegetables (corn, slices of cucumbers, lettuce and other green leaves) infused with lemon juice, bread crumbs and potatoes at the bottom.

Spinat Flade (Spinach Pizza) @ S$18.50

The combination of spinach, tomatoes topped off with cheese was a delight on the thin yet soft and crisp crust. It was so good that Mmy order another pizza.. the bacon pizza. With 16 pieces, it is ample to go around 2-4 people who want to share and nibble on other foods.

Speck Flade (Bacon Pizza) @ S$16.50

With a crust this thin and soft at the same time, it was a delight eating this pizza sprinkled with generous pieces of bacon (not too much that you would get tired of it) and a little bit of green chili slices (to add some spiciness to it) over the cheesy base. I didn't really like the green chili. Though they were few and tiny, they surely packed a punch (very spicy). So those who are not spicy incline should either give this a miss or just give it a try (but wit lots of iced water / drink on standby!)

Huhnerwurst @ S$16.50

This dish consists of spicy chicken sausages, served together with potato salad and sauerkraut (sliced fermented cabbage with a distinct sour flavor). The chicken sausages had a nice hint of spice, yet simple in flavor; complementing the potato salad and sauerkraut. The sauerkraut was a little too sour to my liking but it was still good.

This place is definitely on my list of places to try again. ^^
