Back Again at Brotzeit German Bier Bar and Restaurant (Star Vista)

After the first memorable food experience, I went back for a second time to Brotzeit German Bier Bar and Restaurant at The Star Vista. Coincidentally we were seated in the exact same table as the last time. The service this time round although acceptable, was a little lacking in attentiveness department: it took some time to catch the attention of  (any of the waiters/waitresses) passing by that corner of the restaurant; it seemed like they were pretty busy with the patrons on the other side. We even had to ask them for water refills as they were not around to notice that the water had depleted. Other than that, service was alright - food was ordered and arrived within a reasonable amount of time and payment was swift (and painless).

This time around we ordered different items (of course) and here they are in no particular order:

Wurst Salat @ S$17.50 (Large)

Brotzeit German Bier Bar and Restaurant (Star Vista)

Essentially a cold salad with cuts of ham, egg, onions, tomatoes, capsicum and lettuce (chicken) with a light tangy flavor to it. Compared to the Backhendl Salat (chicken salad) we had the last time, this was lighter on the stomach and a good appetizer/starter.

Spicy Chicken Pizza with Olives @ S$16.50

Brotzeit German Bier Bar and Restaurant (Star Vista)

The combination of spicy chicken slices and olives was nothing spectacular. In fact, it has to be my least favorite pizza that I have tried so far. It was a little bland and lacked the flavorful punch the Speck Flade (Bacon Pizza) has nor the cheesy delightfulness of the Spinat Flade (Spinach Pizza). However, with 16 pieces, it is ample to go around 2-4 people who want to share and nibble on other foods.

Sunday Special - Chicken with Mushroom Sauce @ S$24.50

Brotzeit German Bier Bar and Restaurant (Star Vista)

Can't really remember the name of this dish, but it was a delight to eat! Simple yet flavorful and light: the pieces of chicken were stuffed with spinach (I think), cheese and tomatoes (amongst other things) and grilled to perfection - most and tender. It was accompanied with a saucer of mushroom sauce that you are supposed to lavish it over the pieces of chicken. The sauce was full of mushroomy goodness, so much so that I forgot to take a photo of it.

Of course, how could we forget about the crisp on the outside and nice and fluffy on the inside potato  wedges? The wedges accompanied the chicken as a side (you have a choice of wedges, mashed potato etc...) and they were well seasoned; not too salty and full of potato-y goodness. This dish is only available on Sundays it seems and I highly recommend this to those who want something filling yet healthy at the same time (well, if you don't take the potato wedges it will be even more healthy).

Nurnberger @ S$17.50

Brotzeit German Bier Bar and Restaurant (Star Vista)

This dish consists of pork sausages, served together with potato salad and sauerkraut (sliced fermented cabbage with a distinct sour flavor). The pork were flavorful and had a nice hint of spice, yet simple in flavor; complementing the potato salad and sauerkraut. The sauerkraut this time round was a little too bland, but the mashed potato was a good consistency (not too mushy and no identifiable pieces of hard potato) and seasoned just nice.
