After the satisfying and hearty
tasting eating at
Everything with Fries and
Platypus Restaurant, it was time to move on to
Nanxiang Steam Bun Restaurant, which specializes in Shanghainese (Chinese) cuisine (think xiao long baos – all 8 of them! – as well as other Shanghainese specialties) was next on the food trail.
If you are wondering what this food trail is about, it is a food trail organized by
omy.sg and food establishments in
Bugis Junction, which explores food establishments located in
Bugis Junction. If you want to know all the establishments that were visited, please

So without further ado, let’s just delve into the foods, shall we? ^^
Nianxiang Drunken Chicken* (S$6.80)
|
This is a cold dish (perfect for Singapore’s weather). I like this one as the chicken meat is moist and tender. |
Shanghai Spicy & Sour Soup* (S$8.50)
Braised "Lion's Head"* ($5.80 for 4 pieces)
|
Made of pork and molded into a circular shape (meatball?) with vegetables (spring onions I think and other ingredients), resulting in very nice and flavorful Braised “Lion’s Head”. |
|
The best part about this is, despite being made out of pork, the meat was lean and did not have that oily after taste and the chestnuts added that extra crunch to make it more interesting. I like… ^^ |
Crab Roe Mian Xian
|
With its orange/golden from the crab roe, it made an appetizing dish. The main xian was not soggy and very flavorful. Perfect for those who love their crab roe and main xian! |
