Time for tea again! It has been a long time since I last tried the tea from my staycation at Capella Singapore earlier this year. For those new to Earl Grey, the intensity of the bergamot is as the description says, delicately fused into the tea and is not to strong. There is a light hint of lavender after the tea passes through your palate.
The tea is encased, as with all teas from Gryphon Tea Company, in a silken tea sachet which allows the tea to permeate the boiling water; bringing out the flavor. While it is not as ‘’interesting’ (to me at least) as the Pearl of Orient, I did enjoy the Earl Grey Lavender tea for its subtleness. Being medium-bodied as opposed to the light-bodied Pearl of Orient, the Earl Grey Lavender tea is richer in consistency.
Without sugar, there is a gentle natural sweetness that accompanies the flavor of lavender blooms and oil of bergamot without being over-powering or too bitter; perfect for afternoon tea paired with pastry, chocolate and/or dessert.
