It's that time of the year again for a staycation, well... actually it's just that time of the year where birthday celebrations are due for DramaQueen, so it was off to
Rendezvous Hotel Singapore by Far East Hospitality to while the time away.
Rendezvous Hotel Singapore was having a staycation promotion, so needless to say we grabbed the offer (which came with complimentary breakfast, wifii, drinks and snacks). Granted that the promotion was for a (recently updated) Club Room, it was a good deal.
Reservation was simple and straight forward: response from the team manning the email was fast and polite - an indicator that this staycation was off to a good start. They even so graciously included a special surprise for DramaQueen, being her birthday and all - a (complimentary) birthday cake and a room decorated with balloons!
It would have been great if the room was complimentary too (hahaha).

Note: Rendezvous Hotel Singapore is like an arts museum / gallery with contemporary interior design which blends in edgy artistic expression, technology and connectivity; you can be sure to find some interesting art piece throughout the hotel.

The Club Room that we stayed in seemed to have been (fairly recently) renovated, and with all things being new, that in itself was a plus point. The upkeep of the room was clean and well-maintained. The beds were firm but still sleepable, with a pillow menu (from latex to down pillows etc...) for you to select, should the pillows not suit your sleeping habit.

|
Being art-themed, black and white photos of the Esplanade, threatres and auditoriums remind us of the (art) theme |
|
Welcome fruit plate and 2 bottles of (complimentary) water (that are replenished daily). |
The bathroom was equipped with the necessary toiletries: toothbrush and toothpaste (yeah!), shampoo, hair conditioner, bar of hand soap, shower gel and bar.
|
The shower area with a rain shower (above) not in the photo. The water pressure was good and the heater worked well, there was no need to wait unnecessary seconds for the water to warm up. |
|
Mirrors, mirrors galore! Hand, face and body (length) towels were provided. |
|
The corner where the 'serious' business happens (lol) |
|
Toothbrush and toothpaste sets (yeah!), shower cap, sanitary bag and shave kit |
|
Soaps: handsoaps (bar and liquid), bodywash, shampoo and conditioner (yea! no 2-in-1), and body lotion |
The odd thing would be that the hairdyer was actually located and stored in the cupboard outside the toilet rather than inside. We almost missed it and thought that it was not being provided, but a quick call to the receptionist proved us wrong.
|
Torchlight, iron and safe (to store your valuables). This was also where the hairdryer resided >.< |
|
With an iron, there is bound to be an iron board, along with (comfy) bedroom slippers, bathrobes (that cost S$80 if you happen to bring them home with you) and a sewing kit. |
Rendezvous Hotel Singapore might not be the biggest or plushest hotel in on
Singapore, but if you are here for a staycation or holiday, its location is ideal. It is near the
Douby Gahut MRT Station (just a 5-10 minute walk away), near shopping malls and cinemas (
Plaza Singapura,
The Cathay etc...), museums are also a stone's throw away - it is convenience at its best. If you are bored during the night, there is a KTV (karaoke) place just next door. So go ahead, belt out your favorite song or just sing your heart out for 2 hours or more - which was exactly what we did (lol).
It was amazing that we could even wake up the next morning for breakfast since we had a late night (singing away), but we still managed to find time to nap, swim and try out the gym before check out. That's the benefits of being in a Club Room, you get priority late check out at 3pm! ^^
|
Both the pool and gym are not that big, so its best to avoid the crowds (if you can)! |
Breakfast was at the Club Lounge, located at the
Rendezvous Hotel Singapore's highest floor - the 11th floor. It would have been nice if there was someone to greet us at the entrance to make the experience more welcoming, but we were there about 30 minutes before breakfast was supposed to officially end (at 10am).
Unlike the common breakfast area downstairs, the Club Lounge does not have 'live' egg stations, but we ordered our omelets nonetheless and they were (cooked downstairs) and delivered up.

Breakfast, time to dig in! |
Although the selection for breakfast wasn't (that) extensive, but it was commendable: there were cold cuts, breads, butter and jam, along with (mushroom) porridge and its condiments, a salad bar, little cups of salad (Thai style I think), bacon, yogurt and the usual breakfast beverages like milk, orange juice etc... The selection might not have been extensive, but it was good enough and made our tummies happy.
