Hotel Quote Taipei (Taiwan) - Closed

After managing to find a reasonable online offer for the U room, booking a room at the Hotel Quote Taipei was relatively easy. Although the hotel is not centrally located to the major attractions, that is not an issue if you are not pressed for time and want to take things slow: not only are taxis readily available, the Nanjing East Road MRT Station is about a 5-10 minute walk from the hotel and there are bus stops within walking distance too. The hotel is also diagonally across from Taipei Arena, near some clothes shops (e.g. NET & So Nice), a 24 hours Watsons store, a department store (Momo departmental store) and IKEA next door.

Hotel Quote Taipei has 64 rooms, so you can be assured that there will not be too many guests (and noise) as with large hotel chains: individual floor access is limited via key card. The hotel has a trendy concept and even though it does not have a gym or swimming pool, the service and ambiance make it a pleasant experience. It is a quaint boutique hotel: the entrance has a chic bar incorporated at the reception area, with a DJ playing every night. The hotel also has complimentary foot massagers that can be delivered to your room!

There is also a 24 hour "HQ" where you can grab drinks and snacks for free, as well as complimentary internet on two Mac "stations". You can also grab supplies like rubber bands, nail files, cotton wools, toothbrushes and bath salts at the "HQ".

Check-in was a pleasant and fast affair and we were warmly welcomed with cups of tea. Although the check-in time is 3pm, the room was ready when we arrived an hour early. We were brought to our room by Fenny, and she explained all the facilities (e.g. free mini bar refilled everyday, Nespresso coffe machine, 'Damana Neroli' bathroom amenities, every detail in the room is carefully crafted for a comfortable stay. You do not need to worry about bringing along an international adapter as every electrical outlet is customized as an international socket, so one less thing to bring along.

WiFi is complimentary and the password is provided upon check-in, if you have more than one device that needs to access the WiFi, you can easily get another set of passwords. The only gripe about the WiFi is that you have to log-in each and every time for access.

Perhaps it was because the booking was done online via a 3rd party or it is a common practice, it is good to note that the hotel charged NT$8000 as a deposit (which was refunded back after our check-out). The lighting might be too dim for some, but we found it alright.

There was also complimentary breakfast for the duration we were there. Food was good and there was a slight variation of the foods served. Staff were friendly and very smiley. Breakfast is from 0630 - 1000 am.

Overall, it was a great stay and we would be going back again!

Getting There

1) Bus

If you are arriving from Tao Yuan International Airport, it is recommended that you take the FREEGO Bus to Taipei. The bus fee is NT$140 for one way and the tickets can be bought at the airport.

Alight at the Sunworld Dynasty Hotel stop (王朝大酒店站), it is the last stop. Than take a 3-5 minute walk to Hotel Quote which is around the corner. The whole journey took less than an hour.

OR

Alight at Nanjng East Road Station and walk down 5-10 minute walk to Hotel Quote. You can take with the FREEGO Bus (NT$140) or Evergreen Bus (NT$150).

2) Hotel Limousine Service
If you want more luxury and pampering, you could choose the fastest and most expensive way to get to hotel by opting for its limousine service:

Mercedes Benz S320 NT$1900 /one way
Volkswagen T4 NT$2400 /one way

3) Taxi

You can catch a taxi down to the hotel or get the hotel to book one for you. The fee would be about NT$1,100 /one way. We had the hotel call a taxi for us for the journey back to the airport. It was a smooth and pleasant affair. The journey to the airport took about 30-45 min on a Sunday afternoon.
