High Society (Singapore)

High Society
Taken from the High Society website:
High society record label was founded by That CD Shop since 2006 and is deemed as the jewel of the recording industry as it is the only record company in the world that is being endorsed by all the four major recording labels Sony Bmg, Universal music, Warner and EMI. It is also the only record company in the world that is able to have all the four major labels being involved in a single project.

Other than being a multi-platinum and gold award recording company, High Society Recording Company had also invested in multiple companies all around the world under its belt that focus on retail, grooming, fashion, F&B and talent scouting. With the succession of High Society Recording Company, High Society Academy was set up to scout for new talents from around the world. High Society Academy aims at developing new and upcoming talents for the ever-evolving music industry.

High Society Recording Company have achieved a grand total of 3 Double Platinum, 11 Platinum and 26 Gold award in sales presented by Sony Bmg, Universal music, Warner music, EMI from the year 2006 to 2009. In 2010 our company was awarded top SME 500 Company in Singapore and Singapore Prestige Brand Award 2010.

Wondering what High Society has to do with food since it is a recording company? Well, it has  ventured into the F&B industry, with its first music theme restaurant in Asia at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.

After walking quite a bit viewing the light exhibitions during the i Light Marina Bay 2012, we were tired and wanted a place to relax. As it was late, not many shops or cafes were still open at Marina Bay Sands. After walking a bit, we discovered High Society

The ambiance was interesting - great for those who love crystal chandeliers, cosy furnishings and  things associated with 'high society"; otherwise an interesting experience while ostentatious for some. The service, however, was a totally different story, perhaps it was the late-night peak crowd that night, but we were somewhat ignored while the other patrons were being greeted and ushered to their seats. The queuing system at the time we were there seemed to be slightly chaotic, we had no idea where the queue started or ended. No matter where we stood we were ignored. Being as tired as we were from all that walking, all we wanted was the nice comfy seats and a cool drink.

Fortunately for us the queue had already dispersed, so as soon as we saw an available table, we helped ourselves and sat down. We were only noticed and the menus handed to us when the waitress brought some patrons to our table and realized it was taken. Service from this point picked up a bit, with our order taken relatively fast. The drinks arrived sometime later. What drinks did we have? Well, I can't remember because they didn't leave any lasting impression, or maybe it was the (lack luster) service that soured the experience. Who knows? But from the reviews on HungryGoWhere, one of Singapore's online food resource site with reviews on restaurants, service seems to be an issue at this eatery and the food, save for the macaroons and pastries, are not fantastic enough to warrant the prices.

Perhaps tea-time would be a better experience (hopefully). Anyone care to try?
