Club Med Bintan Island

Club Med Bintan Island

When you think Club Med, one would usually associate it with fun, vibrant and enjoyment. But in the case of Club Med Bintan Island, that might have been the case… 10 or so years ago? The furnishings and décor throughout the resort not only were starting to show their age, they were also dated (like late 90s?).

The facilities of Club Med Bintan Island were a disappointment. They were starting to show their age and the signage was a little confusing. The room we got seemed to be the older “dodgier” part of the resort, where we saw the resort staff often going in and out of the rooms as if it were more of a staff dormitory than lodging for guests. But than again that could have been our imagination.
The whole vibe of the room just oozed 'dated' and there should definitely be a color scheme update. The bed while clean was also another blast from the past, but minus the sparkle.

The room overview. Given this is a resort and the quntity of plasma Tvs being sold, the size of the Tv was really.. tiny.

Food served at the restaurant was mediocre and repetitive. Most of the of the food were ‘instant’ and ‘kid-friendly’. The meats such as fish and beef were overcooked and bland, while the vegetables had a burnt taste to it. The only food that was edible and ‘nice’ were the fries, nuggets and sausages as they were the only ones that were piping hot; the rest of the food were lukewarm or cold which just dampens the appetite.

The decorations were cute though
The only saving grace was the private beach where the waters were clear and clean. The sand, although not white, but was a nice shade of light earthly grayish brown.

If you are looking for a place to party and just to get away from Singapore or any other big city nearby, then maybe Club Med Bintan Island might be the place for you. But personally, for the amount of money you are paying, it is not worth it, unless the resort takes up some drastic measures and spruce up the place befitting the Club Med name and price it charges.
