BB Cream with a difference and my Laneige Spoils

Launched in 1994 in Korea, Laneige is a premium cosmetic brand that promotes lively, youthful skin with its most advanced ‘water science’ technology. Meaning ‘natural snow’ in French, Laneige values the artistic sense of snow crystals and its source, water. Positioning itself as the ‘moisture-expert’ brand, Laneige introduces a variety of ‘Water-full’ skincare and make-up products to bring confidence and sophisticated beauty to young female consumers, and women who want to achieve the radiant, dewy skin they have always longed for. Since its first launch overseas in 2002, Laneige can be found in 475 counters, in department stores and freestanding stores across 13 countries around the globe, as of December 2012.

There are countless of varieties of BB creams out there ranging from creams to powders, balms and even mousse. During my recent trip to Seoul, I encountered yet another type of BB cream, the Snow BB Soothing Cushion from Laneige.

So what exactly is a cushion BB cream? Well, it is basically BB cream contained within a porous sponge cushion encased in a compact (much like your foundation). In the casing, the bottom part of the compact has a lid to keep the BB cream cool (hygienic too).

According to the Laneige website (and the salesgirl who sold me this), the cushion is supposed to "maximize the refreshing and soothing sensation. Every time you touch it, the pump in the air cushion contains air bubbles for thin and skin-friendly makeup." It is also all the range for Spring 2013, creams, powders, balms and mousse please stand aside.

In essence it is BB cream on a sponge and absorbed on (another) sponge for application. Intrigued by the concept I decided to get myself one (amongst the other stuff that I got)… and I absolutely love it! In fact, I think this would have to be my favorite BB cream (for now). It comes 4 shades (13 True Beige, 21 Natural Beige, 23 Sand Baige, and 31 Brown Beige)

At the moment I can’t think of any dislikes (I am not a BB cream expert and pretty noob when it comes to buying cosmetics), but with sunscreen protection of SPF50++, you can save time from applying additional sunscreen. It also blends in nicely and balances, as well as brightens, the skin tone. Moreover, the Snow BB Soothing Cushion gives a fresh, natural dewy finish with a cooling (soothing indeed) effect (something I never experienced before and totally love!). The best part is that it really doesn’t feel heavy at all. But what I am most amazed is that is comes with a refill (very handy and definitely worth the money)! Now if only I can figure out how to wash that cushion puff properly...

Last but not least, I have to shoutout a big thank you to her highness, PopPrincess, for introducing me to Laneige. If it wasn’t for you, I would not have discovered such interesting cosmetics and facial products. I guess this was one of the good points (other than the palaces, food and shopping; save for the company) about going to Seoul during spring.

Seeing how the Multi Cleanser and Power Essential Skin Refiner are PopPrincess’s favorites (and the fact that I bought them for myself as well). They would have to be my favorite skincare products! Well, that’s the effect of positive (?) peer pressure I guess (?). ^^

Below are videos on the wondrous properties of the Snow BB Soothing Cushion and the different ways people use it.

Maybe it’s the effect of the Korean wave fad (I was not really into Korean face products before this), but after having discovered Laneige (courtesy of PopPrincess), I am really interested in trying out the other products as well. Have you tried their products before? What was your favorite or what worked/did not work for you?
