Travelbytez Dining Memory

Looking back, what we remember most was not only the food but also how naturally this dinner became part of our day. After spending the afternoon exploring the ArtScience Museum, we wandered through The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands looking for somewhere to enjoy dinner. Rather than joining the longest queue, we chose the restaurant with the shortest wait, and that spontaneous decision turned into one of the most enjoyable parts of the evening.

The comforting Vietnamese dishes, welcoming atmosphere and efficient service provided the perfect way to unwind before taking another stroll around Marina Bay. Sometimes it's these unexpected moments that become some of the strongest memories from a trip.

Although the Marina Bay Sands outlet has since permanently closed following our visit in February 2025, the experience itself remains a fond memory. Thankfully, So Pho continues to operate several other outlets across Singapore, allowing visitors to continue enjoying its halal-certified Vietnamese cuisine.

🍽️ What We Ordered

There were four of us for dinner, so we ordered a variety of dishes to share, giving everyone the chance to sample different flavours from the menu.

Mixed Appetisers

$17.20
Perfect for sharing.

Pho Noodle with Sliced Beef & Beef Balls

$13.80
Classic comforting pho.

Bún Noodle with Chicken Meatballs & Fried Spring Rolls

$12.80
Fresh and satisfying.

Iced Lemongrass Tea

$4.50
Refreshing and aromatic.

The combination worked wonderfully, allowing us to enjoy both comforting pho and refreshing bún while sharing appetisers and drinks. It was a relaxed meal that rounded off our day at Marina Bay perfectly.

Mixed Appetiser: A Great Way to Start

To kick things off, we ordered the Mixed Appetisers ($17.20) to share while waiting for our mains to arrive. It seemed like the perfect choice since it offered a little bit of everything and gave us the opportunity to sample different Vietnamese flavours in one platter.

The selection included a variety of appetisers with contrasting textures and flavours, from crispy fried bites to lighter, fresher options. Everything arrived beautifully presented, making it feel like more than just a simple starter.

While none of the individual items completely stole the show, the platter worked wonderfully as a sharing dish. The crispy components remained crunchy without feeling overly greasy, while the lighter elements balanced everything nicely. It was exactly the sort of appetiser you'd want while chatting about your day and deciding which exhibition at the ArtScience Museum had been your favourite.

🌿 Travelbytez Tip

If you're visiting as a couple or in a small group, the Mixed Appetisers make an excellent sharing plate before your mains arrive.

Pho Noodle with Sliced Beef & Beef Balls Soup

You simply can't visit a Vietnamese restaurant without considering a bowl of pho, so ordering the Pho Noodle with Sliced Beef & Beef Balls Soup ($13.80) felt like the obvious choice.

The first thing that stood out was the broth. It was warm, aromatic and comforting without being overly rich or heavy. The flavours were clean and balanced, making it easy to enjoy from the very first spoonful right through to the last.

The sliced beef remained tender, while the beef balls added a pleasant bite and a little extra texture. Combined with the silky rice noodles, the dish felt wholesome and satisfying without leaving us feeling overly full.

After spending several hours walking around the museum galleries, this was exactly the type of comforting meal to refuel one. The portion was also a little big for small eaters, but it should be perfect for those with a larger appetite.

Bún Noodle with Chicken Meatballs & Fried Spring Rolls

To experience something different, we also ordered the Bún Noodle with Chicken Meatballs & Fried Spring Rolls ($12.80), which provided a refreshing contrast to the hot bowl of pho.

Served with vermicelli noodles, fresh vegetables, herbs, chicken meatballs and crispy fried spring rolls, this dish immediately felt lighter while still being surprisingly filling.

The fresh herbs added brightness to every bite, while the fried spring rolls brought plenty of crunch and richness. Together, the different textures worked really well and prevented the dish from ever feeling repetitive.

We particularly enjoyed alternating between the pho and the bún throughout the meal. One was warm and comforting, while the other was fresh and vibrant, making the two dishes complement each other perfectly. Again the portion was also a little big for small eaters, but it should be perfect for those with a larger appetite.

💡 Travelbytez Recommendation

If you're dining as a pair, we'd recommend ordering one bowl of pho and one bún dish to share. It gives you the chance to experience two very different styles of Vietnamese noodles.

Iced Lemongrass Tea

To accompany our meal, we ordered 4 portions of the Iced Lemongrass Tea ($4.50), which turned out to be a refreshing choice after spending much of the afternoon walking around Marina Bay Sands.

The drink had a pleasant citrus aroma with gentle herbal notes and wasn't overwhelmingly sweet. It paired nicely with both noodle dishes, helping to cleanse the palate between bites.

Service & Dining Experience

Although Marina Bay Sands was busy during our visit, So Pho maintained a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant had a bright, modern interior with comfortable seating, making it an inviting place to take a break after exploring nearby attractions.

One thing we really appreciated was the speed of service. Despite the steady stream of diners, our food arrived quicker than expected, and the staff remained friendly and attentive throughout our meal.

We never felt rushed, even as the restaurant gradually became busier. Instead, it felt like a comfortable place to sit back, recharge and enjoy a leisurely dinner.

💖 What We Loved

Comforting Food

Both noodle dishes were satisfying, well-prepared and exactly what we were looking for after spending several hours exploring the ArtScience Museum.

Quick Service

Despite the lunchtime crowd around Marina Bay Sands, our food arrived surprisingly quickly and the staff remained friendly throughout our visit.

Good Value

Considering its location inside Marina Bay Sands, we felt the prices were fair and the portion sizes generous enough for a satisfying meal.
