This week, lunch has been at
City Square Shopping Mall, and out of the 5 days I had lunch at
Saizeriya Ristorante e Café for 2 days. Of course the items were different.
Saizeriya Ristorante e Café is located at a corner of
City Square Shopping Mall’s basement 2 and is an Italian influenced café/restaurant.

One good thing about
Saizeriya is that there is no GST! Well, for now at least. So the price is pretty reasonable with pastas and dorias (baked rice) starting from S$4.90 onwards. The menu also has other items like pizzas, ala carte (s.g. escargots, soups etc..) Did I also mention that the lunch set comes with a salad and free flow of drinks? You could also top up for an extra S$3.90 with any main for the salad and free flow of drink.
What sets
Saizeriya apart from other eateries is that all the tables have a call bell where you press it and the waiters/waitresses would attend to you. Service is generally prompt, usually within 5 minutes of pressing the bell. But when there is a crowd, expect it to take within 10 minutes or so.

Over the two days, I had the
Smoked Salmon Cream Spaghetti (topped up for the salad and drinks, what can I say I guess I was hungry that day) and
Black Pepper Chicken Spaghetti from the lunch set (ok it seems that I am perpetually hungry, I blame the recent cold weather). On the other hand, my colleague had the same (
Smoked Salmon Cream Spaghetti) for the first day and the
Chicken Doria the next day. The portion for the pastas is quite filling.

Simple Salad - by the time I remember to take the photos the cherry tomatoes were gone ^^ |

Smoked Salmon Cream Spaghetti with plenty of spinach (underneath). It was pretty nice |
|
Black Pepper Chicken Spaghetti that was in the Set Lunch Menu. It was not bad despite its appearance. |
|
Chicken Doria - with minced chicken and creamy cheesy goodness according to my colleague |
Saizeriya is not really a restaurant per se, like the name suggests, it is more of a café, just bigger in size. Décor was nothing to be wowed about; having more of a "family" feel to it. Since
Saizeriya is a place that emphasizes on low prices and good food, don’t expect too much for the price you are paying.

The decor |
Overall, the food is not only good value for money but also palatable and service was commendable. Definitely perfect for those on a tight budget, hungry stomachs and/or those who love value for money palatable food! It may, however, not be suitable for those who are fussy eaters with high expectations of table service and ambiance. But I’ll definitely be going again!
