Yomenya Goemon (The Star Vista): Back Again

Yomenya Goemon (The Star Vista)

Went back again to Yomenya Goemon at The Star Vista for another try at the spaghetti dishes, and this time there were 4 people in the group rather than 3 (more food photo opportunities!). Dining at Yomenya Goemon involves consuming your spaghetti dishes with a chopstick instead of a fork and spoon, which the whole dining experience unique and that little bit more interesting, don’t you think?

Mag had the Half & Half Set A, which consists of Tomato Sauce with Basil & Mozzarella Spaghetti and Cream Sauce Spaghetti with Crab, Shrimp and Scallop. I already had tried this so a review on the Half & Half Set A can be found here. For Mag, the portions for the half sets were too much, but she managed to finish them.

Disappointed with her Salmon and Broccoli Cream Spaghetti the last time we were here, this time Mmy decided to go for the Sesame based sauce Shabu-Shabu Boiled Pork & Japanese Vegetables. I had a taste of this and it was very nice indeed!

Shabu-Shabu Boiled Pork & Japanese Vegetables
Shabu-Shabu Boiled Pork & Japanese Vegetables - The sauce was flavorful and not overpowering with sesame, blending well with the pork and vegetables together with the spaghetti which was cooked just the right consistency.

DramaQueen and I were determined to try the desserts that day, so we went for the dessert sets: the Lobster Bisque (with had a tinge of curry powder to it) and the Clam Chowder (Soup). Both came with salads, choice of drink and dessert.

Salad
Salad - was standard salad fare, the vegetables were fresh, with dressing that whetted the appetite.
Soup
Normal soup with chopped toufu pieces - it was flavorful enough, but those with a stronger sense of taste might find it blend.

Lobster Bisque
Lobster Bisque - This dish was alright, though the curry powder added give it a peculiar taste. It might be for those who are not that adventurous with their food.

Clam Chowder
Clam Chowder - This was nice, especially if you like cream and clam chowder. It was not too creamy that you would get tired of it and the ingredients were fresh.

Now on to the desserts! We tried the cheese cake and brownie desserts. Don't they look pretty? ^^

Brownie with Chocolate Ice-Cream Topped with Strawberries
Brownie with Chocolate Ice-Cream Topped with Strawberries - this was a nice treat! It's not that sweet, so perfect for those who don't like that desserts to be that sweet. It had a subtle sweetness to it and the strawberry slices helped to lessen the remaining sweetness for the chocolate. The brownie was served warm with a scoop of cold chocolate ice-cream, the perfect combination!
Cheesecake with Strawberry Ice-Cream and Slices
Cheesecake with Strawberry Ice-Cream and Slices - quite a nice treat as well. However, you may not like it if you like your cheesecake to have a stronger flavor. This cheesecake had a light taste to it and the strawberry ice-cream together with the fresh strawberry slices provided that extra sweet and sour excitement to this dessert.

Overall, the food was alright, but service could definitely improve. It wasn't bad but certainly not stellar - it took some time to get anyone's attention to order and requests for another glass of water or chopsticks had to be repeated to different persons, with one remembering and the other forgetting.
